About Us

The Allied health professional's council was established by an Act of Parliament in 1996, cap 268. The Council is a body corporate with a perpetual succession. It may sue or be sued in its corporate name and subject to this statute may do or suffer all other things and acts as body corporate do or suffer.

Mandate

To regulate and control practice, education and training of Allied health professionals through registration, licensing, supervision and monitoring.

An Allied health professional is a person who attains a qualification in health sciences, registrable by the Council.

Vision

To be the leading Health Regulatory body in protecting Society from harmful unethical professional practices in the East African region.

Mission

To regulate, supervise, control and enforce standards of education,training and practice for Allied Health Professionals and promote the practitioners in order to contribute to a healthy and productive life of Ugandans.

The functions of the Council are specified under section 4 of the Allied Health Professionals Act, these are:

Supervising the registration and licensing of Allied Health Professionals and publication of the registered Professionals in the gazette

Regulating the conduct of Allied health professionals and exercising disciplinary control over them

Approving the qualifications awarded by the different institutes concerning the different categories of Allied Health professionals
